10 tips for writing a Blog Post

Attention of web surfers is very limited, then stay on each page for only a few seconds, it is in this short time that they either decide to continue reading a post or move on to another page. Therefore, you should put up the best of content on any blog to get readers hooked instantaneously. While going through your blog, if the readers get bored at any point, then they will simply navigate to another page. Therefore, to give a boost to your traffic and entice all web surfers visiting your web page keep in mind the few pointers given below.

10 tips for writing a Blog Post

1. Write for the audience

Always keep the interest of readers in mind before you pen down anything. Is this something that would interest them? Will they be looking for this information online? Determine the readers of your post beforehand and write something that the target audience will enjoy.

2. Proofreading

It is very important to go through what you have written before posting it. Content with grammatical mistakes, typos, and spelling errors appears shoddy and will make readers lose confidence in your writing; they will not be able to trust the information you have provided.

3. Be succinct

Do not beat around the bush, terse content is liked by all, so deliver your message using minimum words. If you give out too much information or repeat the same details, then readers will surely find it tiresome to go through your post.

4. Entertain

Only fun content that amuses people can hold their attention. Write in a lively conversational tone, use attention grabbing titles along with snazzy sub headings. An energetic tone with eye catching graphics like images and videos will make your post stand out. Use everyday jargon and commonplace expressions that grasp attention and avoid using clichés.

5. In depth information

The information provided should be comprehensive and thorough; answer all questions associated with the content such as the what, why, where, how and who. If the information is incomplete then the post will not make an impact on the readers.

6. Clarity

All content on the post should be easy to understand, get your message across with tremendous clarity; any ambiguity is bound to get your readers disinterested.

7. Structure the content

Do not write in a haphazard manner; put your thoughts into writing methodically. Never try to express more than one idea in a single sentence. A similar set of points should be clubbed together to form a paragraph. Smaller paragraphs with headings and subheading, listed entries, italicized or bold text are easier to read as visitors can easily skim and scan through such structured information.

8. Titles

The readers first notice the title, which is also the very first thing a search engine takes into consideration before ranking a web page. Therefore, put plenty of thought into constructing a title.

9. Links

Providing links attracts reader attention to a piece of information and also gives a boost to search engine optimization. Use optimal number of links, neither too less nor too many.

10. Keywords

Find keywords relevant to the subject matter you are going to upload and intersperse them in the content. Include keywords in titles, headings and subheadings to improve the ranking of your web page.

A well written blog gets to readers easily, if they thoroughly enjoy the content then web surfers will definitely keep coming back to your blog to get more information. While, searching for accurate and extensive information is a must, it should also be presented in a lucid and captivating way to leave all readers spellbound.

Hey Hasan, I think wordpress is better than Blogger. Better SEO,huge plugin, better comment system, superb interface for multi-author blog etc.
